Get those telescopes ready and make plans for a total lunar eclipse that will be visible in Arizona. This total lunar eclipse is occurring on Sunday, January 20th, 2019. It is a five hour extravaganza beginning about 7:30pm, with the partial eclipse beginning at 8:30pm and the full eclipse around 9:40pm. The complete eclipse will be over by 1:00am on Monday, January 21st, 2019. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, earth and the moon are aligned. When the moon passes behind the earth, the moon will have a red hue. Not only is it a Blood Moon, but also a Wolf Moon. A Wolf Moon is the first full moon of a calendar year. Don’t miss it! If you do, you’ll have to wait for the next one in 2021.
