Visit Antelope Canyon

If you are planning to visit Arizona, then you will want to put Antelope Canyon on your must-see list.  Antelope Canyon is a beautiful slot canyon located outside of Page, Arizona about 160 miles from Sedona.  The underground canyon was shaped by years of wind and water erosion. When the sun is high overhead, the light will shine on the sandstone and show off the gorgeous layers of the rocks. It is truly an adventure to put on your Arizona bucket list.

When is the best time to visit Antelope Canyon?

The best time to visit Antelope Canyon and see the light beams on the canyon walls is between June and August.  This is also during the busy season, so crowds are larger and the temperature is the hottest.  During May and September, there are fewer crowds and the temperatures are a little cooler.  Remember, monsoon season is June through September.  Arizona monsoons mean rainy weather and tours are often cancelled.  During the months of April and October, the weather is usually comfortable with highs in 60s and 70s.  If you don’t mind colder weather, then visiting Antelope Canyon in November, December and January is for you.  This time of year, you could expect some icy conditions.

Tour Antelope Canyon

To visit Antelope Canyon, you will need to book a tour.  Since Antelope Canyon is on the Navajo Indian Reservation, you’ll need to book a tour with an authorized tour company.  There are three canyons to tour. If you are visiting from Sedona and want to make it a day trip, there are tour companies that offer all day Antelope Canyon Tour. Since Page, Arizona is far away, you may want to visit the Grand Canyon on the way.
